What is a RASCI?

A RASCI matrix is a project management tool used to clarify roles and responsibilities within a project or process.

The acronym RASCI stands for...

  • Responsible: The person or people who are completing the task. They are responsible for action/implementation.
  • Accountable: The person who is ultimately answerable for the correct and thorough completion of the task. This person delegates work and is the last one to review the task or deliverable before it's deemed complete.
  • Supportive: Those who assist in completing the task. Their involvement is critical, and they provide necessary resources or help.
  • Consulted: Those whose opinions are sought before a final decision or action is taken. They provide advice, feedback, and input.
  • Informed: Those who are kept updated on progress and outcomes. They are not directly involved in the task but need to be aware of its status.
